Rivian is excited to introduce the second generation of its groundbreaking R1T pickup. This new model features hundreds of hardware improvements, performance upgrades, and a completely redesigned software experience. While retaining Rivian’s distinctive exterior design, the R1T offers new motor configurations, design elements, and trim and tire options, all enhanced by a zonal electrical architecture and a state-of-the-art compute and autonomy platform.
Performance for Every Adventure
The new R1T is powered by Rivian-designed drive units available in Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor configurations. The Quad-Motor version delivers an astonishing 1,025 horsepower, rocketing from 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds with 1,198 lb-ft of torque in Launch Mode. A Dual-Motor configuration, also built in-house, is available for those seeking balanced performance and efficiency.
The R1T features new Large and Max battery packs, offering up to an estimated 420 miles of range. A new lithium iron phosphate-based Standard pack provides up to an EPA-estimated 270 miles for value-conscious customers. A redesigned heat pump-based thermal system and 22-inch aero wheels enhance efficiency and range.
Advanced Technology
Rivian’s second-generation R1T includes a revolutionary electrical architecture and compute platform, reducing ECUs from 17 to 7 and removing 1.6 miles of wiring per vehicle. The Rivian Autonomy Platform, with 11 cameras, five radars, and AI prediction technology, offers superior compute power and advanced safety features like high-resolution camera Blind Spot Monitoring and Highway Assist.
New Experiences and Designs
The R1T offers innovative features like car keys in Apple Wallet and select Google Pixel devices, a Rivian-developed sound system with Dolby Atmos, and Connect+, a subscription service supporting streaming video through Google Cast. The interior features a Dynamic Glass Roof and customizable lighting, along with a redesigned software interface powered by Unreal Engine.
Efficiency & Sustainability
The new R1T reflects Rivian’s commitment to sustainability with a 15% lower lifetime carbon footprint than the first-generation R1 platform. Manufacturing and operating efficiencies, coupled with improvements in the materials supply chain, contribute to this reduction. The electrical zonal architecture lowers manufacturing costs and parts, reinforcing Rivian’s mission to promote EV adoption and environmental stewardship.
The second-generation R1T starts at $69,900, with production based in Normal, Illinois, and deliveries available immediately.
