This 1991 Land Rover Defender 90 is a right-hand-drive example that was imported to the US under previous ownership and subsequently refurbished and modified. Work involved fitting a Project Kahn wide-body kit and refinishing the exterior in matte silver as well as installing a supercharged 6.2-liter LS3 V8 mated to a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is also equipped with 20” Black Rhino wheels, Old Man Emu shocks, auxiliary lighting, a NAS-style rear bumper, aftermarket seats trimmed in tan leather, custom interior wood paneling, air conditioning, a microsuede headliner, a backup camera, and an Alpine sound system. It was previously sold on BaT in February 2023, and subsequent work included overhauling brake and suspension components as well as installing suspension bump stops, repairing a leak from the fuel tank, and replacing the rear differential. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this modified Defender 90 is offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean New York title listing the truck as a 1990 model.
The truck was fitted with a Project Kahn wide-body kit and refinished in matte silver under previous ownership. LED headlights, driving lights, rear spotlights, and tail lamps have been installed along with an X-Lander grille, a modified Puma hood, fender vents, alpine windows, a NAS-style rear bumper, and Masai rock sliders.
Gray 20″ Black Rhino Armory wheels are mounted with 33″ Gladiator QR900-M/T tires, and a smaller spare is affixed to the rear cargo door. The truck is equipped with Old Man Emu shocks and sway bars, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. Work in August 2023 included rebuilding the power steering and brake booster pump along with repairing the brake master cylinder, flushing the brake fluid, replacing the rear brake pads, and realigning the rear brake calipers. Additional work included replacing the rear axles, resealing the rear wheel bearings, and overhauling the front axle drive flanges and rear wheel hub spacers. Suspension bump stops were also fitted at that time.
The right-hand drive cabin houses aftermarket heated front bucket seats trimmed in tan leather along with custom wood accents on the dash, center console, doors, and footwells. The interior has been lined with additional sound-deadening material, and black leather and microsuede accent the dashboard, door panels, and console. Equipment consists of air conditioning, power windows and door locks, switches for various vehicle functions, a push-button gear selector, a tan microsuede headliner, and an Alpine sound system with a touchscreen head unit and a backup camera.
The cargo area features a wood-paneled floor along with black leather and microsuede accents. A custom enclosure located behind the rear seats houses two subwoofers and amplifiers.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames aftermarket instrumentation consisting of a 200-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and boost pressure. The odometer shows 1,400 miles, which is said to represent the distance traveled since the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger, Trick Flow cylinder heads, and MagnaFuel and Holley fuel system components. The battery was replaced in August 2023.
Power is routed to all four wheels through a 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and custom drive shafts. The truck is fitted with a front skid plate, long-tube headers, a Flowmaster Flow FX muffler, and a fuel tank guard mounted below the fuel tank. The rear differential was replaced in August 2023 along with the transmission mount and driveshaft hardware. Additional work included repairing a leak from the fuel tank and installing a custom overflow canister.
