Volkswagen continues to embrace its ‘In China, for China’ strategy with the launch of the ID.UNYX, the first model under a new sub-brand tailored to the Chinese market. This E-SUV coupé is designed to meet the specific needs of Chinese customers, offering a progressive design, an intelligent human-machine interface (HMI) featuring a customizable 3D avatar, and an impressive range of over 600 kilometers.
Progressive Design and Smart Features
The ID.UNYX stands out with its avant-garde design and smart features. It includes a gold-colored Volkswagen badge and lettering, symbolizing quality and reliability in China. The front boasts LED matrix headlights with a horizontal LED strip and a distinctive powerdome. The sleek silhouette is enhanced by a sharp character line that rises towards the rear, while the sporty coupé-style rear features intricate LED tail lights and an illuminated horizontal strip.
Advanced Human-Machine Interface
One of the standout features of the ID.UNYX is its innovative HMI. The interactive, AI-based 3D avatar can be personalized via an app and synchronized with the vehicle’s HMI. This avatar, configured with a human-like voice, interacts with the driver, enhancing the user experience.
Exceptional Range and Performance
The entry-level ID.UNYX is powered by a 210 kW (286 PS) electric motor on the rear axle, supported by a 77 kWh battery, delivering a range of up to 621 km (CLTC standard). An all-wheel-drive version with two electric motors and a combined output of 250 kW (340 PS) will also be available.
Tailored for the Chinese Market
The ID.UNYX is a product of Volkswagen’s new innovation and development center in Hefei, eastern China, which focuses on creating the latest generation of smart electric vehicles for the local market. The vehicle is manufactured at one of Volkswagen Group’s most advanced electric vehicle plants, also located in Hefei.
Expanding the ID.UNYX Range
Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Brand China, emphasized that the ID.UNYX is just the beginning. “With the new ID.UNYX, we are expanding our electric ID. models in China with an avant-garde product,” Mecha stated. Volkswagen plans to introduce four more ID.UNYX models by 2026, including additional SUVs and saloons. This expansion is part of Volkswagen’s broader plan to introduce 34 new models in China by 2030, strengthening its position as the leading international brand in the Chinese market.
Retail Concept and Customer Experience
To support the launch of the ID.UNYX, Volkswagen will open 40 exclusive stores in 20 cities across China. These stores will allow customers to experience the vehicle through advanced technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, further enhancing the appeal to young, lifestyle-oriented consumers.
The Volkswagen ID.UNYX represents a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the unique needs of the Chinese market.
