Interest is building for next month’s unique Salon Privé London Concours de Vente which will be held for the third year running on 18-20 April 2024. This is the only classic car concours in the world where every entry is for sale. And along with growing interest, the number of entries is rising all the time too, with some headline cars already confirmed for the famous event held in the grounds of Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Joe Macari will return to Salon Privé London for the third year running, with a spectacular line-up of five classic models. The entries will include a stunning 1970 Lamborghini Miura P400 S, a late production model that’s been fully restored and finished in iconic black and gold. The 550th Miura built, this car was sold new in Voitures Paris Monceau and has an extensive history, with owners in France and Belgium enjoying it before the car came to the UK in 2012. It was fully restored in 2014 by Barkaways, to concours standard.
The car has been displayed at various Concours d’Elegance events across Europe, as well as attending the Miura’s 50th Anniversary celebrations hosted by Automobili Lamborghini. Now, it has the added honour of appearing at the Salon Privé London Concours de Vente – and like all entries, visitors will have the chance to buy it.
P & A Wood is confirmed for Salon Privé London Concours de Vente and will be entering a 1966 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Touring Limousine by James Young, a car considered by many experts to be one of the finest coach built cars since the war. This example is one of only 14 left-hand drive PV23 cars built, from a total of just 27. It was sold new to a Mr. Gaines of Florida, where it enjoyed a low-mileage life until the 1990s.
Finished in black and ivory with champagne leather in the front and champagne cloth in the rear, this Rolls-Royce Phantom V Limousine is one of the few made with the Hooper rear quarter windows. Its exceptionally elegant coachwork is in excellent and original condition – remarkably, this superb example is unrestored and has a beautifully untouched interior.
The Octane Collection is set to wow Salon Privé London visitors with a superb BMW E9 3.0 CSL. First registered in March 1974, it has been confirmed by BMW Group Archive as being produced from the factory as a UK City Pack car, finished in vivid Ceylon Gold.
This car has received a complete and painstaking four-year rebuild, using era-correct techniques, to give it a second lease of life. It comes with a full photographic record of the restoration, showing the intense and lengthy effort that’s gone into it. The Octane Collection says it’s now ready to charge into its second half-century as an effectively brand-new CSL, restored to factory standards as a car as immaculate as when it rolled out the BMW factory 50 years ago.
Godin Sporting Cars & Motorcycles is bringing excitement to Concours de Vente with a 2001 AC Cobra MkIV CRS – a car originally owned by 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill. One of just 37 lightweight ‘Carbon Road Series’ cars produced, it has a 5.0-litre fuel injected engine, five-speed gearbox, limited-slip differential and, of course, a carbon fibre body.
Damon Hill registered the car to the P1 International Prestige and Supercar Private Members Club, which he founded in 2000. It has covered only 15,500 miles from new and is supplied with all the manufacturer handbooks – along with full weather equipment and tonneau cover.
“We really are receiving some spellbinding entries for Salon Privé London Concours de Vente in 2024,” said director David Bagley. “I’m delighted to welcome back Joe Macari for the third year running, and I know guests will be thrilled by the Lamborghini Miura showcase. Our friends at P & A Wood, The Octane Collection and Godin Sporting Cars & Motorcycles are also pulling out all the stops to impress visitors – and I can confirm more exciting entries are coming in all the time, so watch this space!”
Ticket sales are booming and, with only four weeks to go, the entrants are continuing to reveal some exciting and richly varied entries for the Concours de Vente. For dealers interested in entering, there are still some limited spaces available, for those who wish to join and have the opportunity to sell their cars to an affluent and engaged audience – but be quick and contact Nick Wilkes on nickw@salonpriveconcours.com or 07795 213361.
