This supercar from the Bottrop-based vehicle manufacturer accredited with the German Federal Motor Authority represents an exclusive sports car in a class of its own: This coupe, here represented by two vehicles, one sporting black metallic paintwork and the other a “Signature Gray” special paint finish, will be built in a limited edition of just 25 cars.
The new supercar from BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone +49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, Internet www.brabus.com) compels with its high-performance engine that produces 662 kW / 900 hp (888 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) peak torque. It slings the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.5 seconds and hits 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 340 km/h (211 mph).
The BRABUS WIDESTAR carbon bodywork was developed and aerodynamically optimized in the wind tunnel. It is equally spectacular as the engine. It makes the coupe 196.8 centimeters (77.5 in) wide and thus creates space for 21- and 22-inch extra-wide BRABUS Monoblock P wheels with high-performance tires up to 335 millimeters (13.2 in) wide.
The BRABUS MASTERPIECE interior offers an exclusive ambience at the highest level. The “Signature Gray” supercar presented here features gray interior appointments matching the special paint finish. Red stitching and trim, as well as carbon elements emphasize the sporty character of this supercar. In contrast, the cockpit of the second supercar shown here features black tone-on-tone appointments.
Prices for the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition start at 461,500 euros (export price in Germany excluding statutory VAT).
During the by now 46 years since the company was founded, BRABUS has earned an excellent global reputation for the development and production of high-performance engines. This tremendous expertise naturally entered into the development of the 3.8-liter six-cylinder, twin-turbo, flat-six engine that powers the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition. It produces an output of 662 kW / 900 hp (888 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) peak torque. Like all BRABUS engines, the entire powertrain is operated with hi-tech lubricants from MOTUL.
The forced induction of the rear-mounted power plant is provided by two BRABUS VTG special turbochargers that produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.9 bar. BRABUS diverter valves with BoostXtra adapters produce a clearly audible blow-off noise when the driver of the supercar lifts off the gas.
The BRABUS exhaust system includes two high-performance catalysts and custom gasoline particulate filters. The BRABUS sports rear muffler contributes further to the outstanding power delivery. The use of the superlight and heat-resistant Inconel hi-tech material also plays an important part in the outstanding power-to-weight ratio of this supercar. Electronically controlled butterfly valves in the exhaust offer drivers the possibility of regulating the exhaust note from within the cockpit. When the valves are closed, the six-cylinder boxer operates in the subtle “Coming Home” mode. In the open “Sport” position, the exhaust valves elicit a spectacular sound from the boxer engine.
The power unit engineers and electronics specialists conducted extensive test drives and research on modern test benches to ensure the perfect interplay of all high-performance components. Special maps for injection, boost pressure control and ignition play a key part in this harmonization. Moreover, the transmission controls were adapted to the huge performance potential as well.
The performance data of the BRABUS engine are first-rate: An output of 662 kW / 900 hp (888 bhp) at 7,200 rpm as well as a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) at 5,100 rpm put the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition squarely among the world’s most powerful sports cars. Just as important as the raw performance data is the superior effortlessness with which the new supercar turns gas pedal commands into tremendous acceleration at any engine speed.
In conjunction with the either automatically or manually shifted eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission and the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system, the new BRABUS supercar takes just 2.5 seconds for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in a mere 7.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 340 km/h (211 mph) to protect the tires.
In these speed ranges, the aerodynamics play a dominant role and are thus always at the very top of the performance specifications for the BRABUS designers. The BRABUS WIDESTAR bodywork of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition, which is produced from lightweight yet high-strength carbon using the complex pre-preg process, is once again impressive proof that the developers at the Bottrop dream car factory superbly master the difficult balancing act between spectacular looks and efficient aerodynamics.
The BRABUS front fascia has an additional BRABUS lip spoiler made from exposed carbon. It is actively controlled and lowers into the airstream, thus producing more downforce at high speeds. The carbon surrounds made from that same material optimally route the airflow into the air intakes for the front radiators and front brakes.
The WIDESTAR bumper integrates perfectly with the BRABUS front fenders on both sides. Air vents incorporated into their backs are designed to expel the heated air from the wheel arches and are fitted with tailor-made Kevlar liners. The BRABUS fenders create space for the new BRABUS Monoblock P wheels with five delicate spokes. They are manufactured exclusively for BRABUS using state-of-the-art forging and machining technology, and impress with their perfect combination of lightweight construction and strength.
The front wheels of size 9.5Jx21 carry 255/45 ZR 21 SportContact 7 high-performance tires from technology partner Continental. Another special development that looks good and offers perfect function are the exposed-carbon AERODISKS attached to these alloys. They give all four wheels some unmistakable racing flair and use the rotation of the wheels to shovel the air heated by the brakes out of the wheel wells.
The exposed-carbon rocker panels transition into the BRABUS WIDESTAR sidewalls at the rear axle. The large air intakes in the sidewalls provide the engine with combustion and cooling air. They make the supercar an impressive 196.8 centimeters (77.5 in) wide. In order to emphasize the wedge shape typical of a sports car, the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition runs on rims of size 12Jx22 at the rear, one inch taller than the front wheels. They are mounted with tires of size 335/45 ZR 22, which ensure the supercar’s outstanding grip and phenomenal cornering.
The rear end is formed by the BRABUS WIDESTAR fascia with integral exposed-carbon diffuser, which perfectly showcases the four 100mm (3.9 in) tailpipes of the BRABUS high-performance exhaust system. Thrilling looks are not the only strong point of this aerodynamics component, however: It also produces more rear-axle downforce. The BRABUS rear spoiler was developed in the wind tunnel for the same purpose. It rises and tilts up at high speeds to generate more downforce. The trim element between the taillights bears the BRABUS logo and thereby documents which renowned high-end manufactory makes this supercar. The sporty design is rounded off by exposed-carbon trim for the side mirrors.
In order to ensure optimal handling, the engineers, technicians and test drivers developed a special suspension that features BRABUS coilover sports springs and shock absorbers with custom BRABUS damping characteristics. They are fully compatible with PASM. The front lift system allows raising the front of the vehicle at the touch of a button. The suspension reverts to the standard afterwards at another touch of the button or automatically.
Matching the special “Signature Gray” paint finish of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition presented here, the BRABUS MASTERPIECE interior is tailor-made from the finest gray leather by the experienced master upholsterers at the BRABUS Manufactory. The headliner is made from Alcantara of the same color. The BRABUS MASTERPIECE badges on the backs of the front seats document the high-class origin of this cockpit.
Intriguing contrasts to the fine, slate gray leather of this interior are provided by the red topstitching and the trim elements, which sport a likewise red glaze finish. They include the air vent surrounds, the speaker grilles and the switches. The seat surfaces and the floor feature an ellipsoid quilt pattern applied with pinpoint precision. The leather of selected sections was additionally perforated with that same great accuracy.
Carbon elements with high-gloss sealed surface finish add sporty touches in the interior, as do the scuff plates made from the same material. They are fitted with a backlit, color-changing BRABUS logo. The BRABUS pedal pads and the footrest with illuminated BRABUS logo are made from anodized aluminum.
The black BRABUS 900 ROCKET R “1 of 25” Limited Edition supercar sports “Mondial Black” interior appointments made from high-end leather that matches the color of the outer skin. It too features interior elements with an ellipsoid quilt pattern and has a black Alcantara headliner. Carbon elements provide a touch of motorsports flair, while the trim elements in the cockpit sport a “Shadow Chrome” glaze finish.
